As children grow, they learn many lessons from their parents about how to live life. My childhood was no different. I was blessed with two amazing parents who taught my brother and me many important lessons about how to live life and love others. The incredible thing is that my parents rarely taught us these lessons overtly; they taught by the lives they led. My dad, Rick Barclay, lived a life of faith, family, patriotism, integrity, service, and humility. When he died on October 23, 2012 I found myself reflecting on these qualities and the way he quietly went about his life, showing in every action that he was a man of character and honor. He was my Quiet Knight; strong, brave, honorable, and loyal yet humble and quiet.
